His goal is to help patient maintain or return to an active lifestyle - whether that means returning to sports after an injury or getting back to everyday activities with less pain after joint replacement.

Evaluation and treatment of sports-related knee, hip and shoulder conditions, including ACL and meniscus tears, cartilage injures, shoulder injuries and rotator cuff tears, and hip injuries. Treatment is individualized, spanning nonsurgical care to regenerative medicine to surgical care, with the goal of restoring function and helping patients safely return to the activities that matter to them.

When surgery is appropriate, Dr. Baran uses arthroscopic and joint-preserving techniques to treat selected knee, hip, and shoulder conditions. These include ligament injuries, meniscus tears, tendon tears, labrum and cartilage injuries. The goal is to address the underlying problem in a minimally invasive way to persevere joint function and minimize pain.

For patients with advanced hip or knee arthritis Dr. Baran performs joint replacement when pain and loss of function are no longer adequately controlled with nonsurgical care. With over 16 years of experience in sports medicine and joint replacement, inducing residency training at Mayo Clinic, he helps patients consider the full range of treatment option before deciding whether replacement is appropriate. When replacement is selected, he uses advanced technology and computer navigation to help achieve ideal results.
